1. Introduction

Horophile ("we", "us", "our") is a watchmaking workshop based in Chiang Mai, Thailand. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect and handle personal information provided to us through this website and through direct contact. We keep data collection to what is genuinely necessary for providing our services and communicating with clients.

This policy applies to all personal data collected via the website at horophile.blog, by telephone, by email, and at the workshop premises.

Questions about this policy may be addressed to [email protected].

2. Data We Collect

We collect personal data in the following ways:

  • Contact form submissions: name, email address, and optionally telephone number and a message describing the watch or enquiry.
  • Direct email or telephone contact: the information you include in that correspondence.
  • In-person visits: name and contact details needed to record intake of a piece and to return it to you.
  • Website analytics: anonymised usage data (pages visited, session duration) if analytics cookies are accepted. No personally identifiable information is included in analytics data.
  • Cookies: see Section 6 below.

We do not collect payment card details through this website. Any payment arrangements are handled separately and directly.

3. How We Use Your Data

Personal data collected is used only for the following purposes:

  • Responding to enquiries about our services.
  • Arranging the intake, service, and return of timepieces.
  • Communicating progress and decisions during a service or restoration project.
  • Maintaining workshop records for the duration of and after a completed service.
  • Improving the website based on anonymised usage patterns (only if analytics consent is given).

We do not send marketing emails or newsletters. We do not use your data for profiling or automated decision-making.

The legal basis for processing your data is legitimate interest (responding to direct enquiries and managing workshop operations) and, where applicable, performance of a contract (carrying out an agreed service).

4. Data Retention

We retain personal data as follows:

  • Enquiry correspondence that does not lead to a service: deleted within 12 months.
  • Records relating to completed services: retained for 7 years for accounting and reference purposes, then securely deleted.
  • Workshop intake records (including photographs taken on arrival of a piece): retained for the duration of the service plus 5 years.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal data to third parties. We do not share personal data with advertisers. In limited circumstances we may share data with:

  • Website hosting providers — for the technical operation of the website.
  • Analytics providers (e.g. Google Analytics) — only if you have accepted analytics cookies, and only anonymised data.
  • Legal authorities — if required by law.

6. Cookies

  • Essential cookies: required for the website to function. Always active.
  • Analytics cookies: optional. Collect anonymised data on how visitors use the site.
  • Marketing cookies: optional. We do not currently use these.

7. Data Security
